Land Trust Activity

The Conservancy was originally organized as a land trust and we have continued to use the knowledge acquired during our first few years when we attempted to set up various resolutions to the Lompico Headwaters dispute. Land Trust activity usually needs to be conducted in a relatively discrete way.  It is very different from discussions of government policy which take place in a public forum.

The Conservancy has begun to acquire property in Lompico Canyon as part of our Mill Creek Conservation Area Project.  Parcel owners have donated "Happyland" subdivision lots to us which we will hold in order to form an expanded watershed protection area to eventually add to the Headwaters area formed by the Sempervirens Fund.

Land we acquire will not be transferred from us for development or resource extraction.  We offer land donors the opportunity to place land in protected status in a way that is not available by any other method of land transfer.  There are many un-developable lots in Lompico Canyon which were drawn and recorded before there was any county control of the practice of lot subdivision.  This has created an opportunity to re-assemble these lots for conservation purposes because these lots can not be used for legal development. We can not accept ownership of every lot and we need to concentrate on specific areas.

If you hold title to land parcels which you wish to donate, please contact us.  We can prepare the necessary transfer documents at no expense to you and provide you with a charitable tax deduction from your income taxes, depending on your personal circumstances.

The Lompico Watershed Conservancy is a registered non-profit corporation with a 12 years of experience.
